ThunderBolts Cancer Panel testing


The ThunderBolts™ Cancer Panel from Raindance is a comprehensive next-generation sequencing (NGS) panel for profiling important cancer mutations. The ThunderBolts Cancer Panel enables researchers to rapidly detect and cost-effectively analyze mutations on precious FFPE (Formalin-Fixed Paraffin- Embedded), and Fluid Biopsy™ samples (circulating tumor DNA or ctDNA). The ThunderBolts Cancer Panel uses single molecule PCR to target 50 known cancer genes including tumor suppressors, mutation hotspots and drug resistance markers.

The ThunderBolts Cancer Panel covers 50 well known cancer genes responsible for somatic mutations, including the content found on the Ion Torrent AmpliSeq™ Cancer Hotspot Panel v2 and Illumina TruSeq® Amplicon Cancer Panel products. Mutations in these genes have often been associated with many types of cancers.

The Genomics Core Facility in collboration wirh Dr. Heidi M. Namløs has sucessfully tested the use of ThunderBolts for targeted reseqeuncing in FFPE cancer samples.

The Genomics Core Facility has recently installed a NanoString nCounter system. The nCounter utilizes a novel digital barcode technology for direct multiplexed measurement of analytes and offers high levels of precision and sensitivity. This technology allows the analysis of expression of up to 800 mRNAs, miRNAs, DNA regions, or proteins simultaneously, using predesigned assays, as well as custom solutions.

The Genomics Core Facility has recently acquired new instrumentation, the ChromiumTM(10X Genomics) and RhapsodyTM(BD Genomics) enabling Single Cell Sequencing and sequencing of Artificial Long Reads.
